2010 – Acting Funny

A collection of sketches, including opening and closing songs, five Great Moments from History, two French Lessons, three monologues, a very small circus, the ante-rooms to the after-life, a spoof of a medical soap opera, a martial arts demonstration and the Dead Carrot sketch.

A milestone show as not only is the club now in it’s 40th year it officially changed it’s name (after much debate) to Melksham Music and Drama (MMAD) from Melksham Comedy Club as the club as a whole felt that the “Comedy” element whilst present in a lot of our shows no longer reflected the image that we wanted to portray.

Acting Funny was Directed/Produced by Simon Hoy and Aimi Davies. The cast of around 30 performed this show across 2 weeks with a total of 4 shows. Aimi and Simon set out to do something a bit different, subsequently they found this original script that was written by Jack Burgess. Once they had found the script they instantly started picturing it. They thought that it was a great fit for the club and it turns out they were right, the show was enjoyed by audience, cast and crew.
